Festivities began with the stunning visual of hundred of vintage Vespas swarming the circuit for the Track Opening Parade, celebrating the scooter’s 80th anniversary with acrobats performing daring formations. The most notable passenger of all was of course the Duke of Richmond, arriving via scooter to officially kick-start the 2026 Goodwood Revival.

The it was time for action, and the day’s Official Practice sessions delivered their fair share of spins and skids as drivers pushed the limits. The first session for the RAC TT Celebration presented by Dunlop grid was particularly fierce, with cars running three-wide as drivers fought for pole position ahead of Sunday's flagship race. Even seasoned pros weren't immune to the pressure; Gordon Shedden suffered a spin in his AC USRRC 289 Cobra amidst a session otherwise defined by masterful overtaking from the world's finest historic racers.

Adding to the drama was the first of the weekend’s Le Mans ‘66 Celebrations, featuring a spectacular reunion as André Lotterer, Benoît Tréluyer, and Marcel Fässler stepped into the cockpits of the legendary Ford GT40 Mk IIs. This iconic trio, who conquered Le Mans three times for Audi, traded the high-tech, hybrid cockpits of their championship years for the raw muscle of 1960s motorsport history.

As the sun began to set, the grid formed for the first competitive races of the weekend: the Part 1 of the St. Mary’s Trophy presented by Motul and the Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy. The St. Mary's Trophy grid delivered as the event’s opening fixture, its trademark thunderous saloon car action resulted in a nail-biting finish as just a second separated victor Romain Dumas from Frank Stippler.

Closing out the evening, the Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy treated spectators to a breathtaking display of vintage racing, as the glowing dusk met the piercing glare of classic headlights flashing through the twilight.
