The Toyota GR Yaris was designed to be the contender for the 2021 World Rally Championship title. But then certain world-changing events happened and it was canned. But thankfully what Toyota didn't cancel was the road version.

Thus a 260PS, 360Nm, four-wheel-drive version of the Yaris arrived on our shores in late 2020. There is very little that connects the GR Yaris to the original Yaris. Even the name, GR, tells you that this is something far more special. Since GR stands for Gazoo Racing, Toyota's motorsport team that has dominated Le Mans and the WRC for the last few years.
We were lucky enough to get our hands on the Toyota GR Yaris for a full test drive around the roads of Sussex to see if it really lives up to all the hype. Is this a true WRC car for the road? Or has it all been overplayed? The only way to find out of course was to drive it.
