Friday at the 2026 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard was another unrelenting day — both of sunshine and action on the Hill. With two Balcony Moments, poignant recreations and the first of the Timed Shoot-Out sessions as the headline acts, day two was simply non-stop. But if you missed out on any of the best bits we’ve got you covered with this video of full Friday highlights.

‘The Rivals — Epic Racing Duels’ was the theme for the 2026 Festival of Speed, and it’s this batch that we open with on the Hill when the Ford GT MkII and Ferrari 330 P3 / 412 ran together in a reminiscence of the rivalry that captivated Le Mans in the 1960s.

Pioneering machines from Mercedes and Bentley took things back further still, before we shot forwards in time again to the 1980s and the bikes that shaped the rivalry between Wayne Rainey and Kevin Schwantz. No matter the discipline or generation, this batch reminded us that motorsport is fuelled by its rivalries.

Unsurprisingly, there were quite a variety of machines in attendance at the Festival of Speed, so we went from Tom Kristensen at the wheel of the Auto Union Lucca to the Porsche 917LH to Formula 1 driver Liam Lawson driving the Gunther Werks F-26 up the Hill. We can’t help but love the mix. Plus, Dario Franchitti shared what it was like to take Dan Gurney’s Ford-liveried 1963 Lotus 29 for a drive.

The first Balcony Moment of the day honoured Isle of Man TT great John McGuinness, who rode the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP right up to the House to reminisce on his impressive 30-year career.

Heritage F1 machines followed, spearheaded by Damon Hill driving Nigel Mansell’s Williams FW11, while Dan Ticktum gave us a glimpse of the future with Formula E’s latest Spark Gen4 car ahead of its run in the Timed Shoot-Out. Then came the moment everyone was waiting for, when Piston Cup legend Lightning McQueen greeted his adoring fans with a run on Friday afternoon.

To top off the day, Monster Energy brought together MotoGP great Valentino Rossi and F1 World Champion Lando Norris for Friday’s second Balcony Moment, preceded by Norris’ showcase of the McLaren MCL-HY hypercar. The crowds of luminous yellow were unlike anything we’ve seen before, the highlight of day two at the 2026 Festival of Speed that will live long in the memory here at Goodwood.
