Created in 2013 by former NASCAR and IndyCar driver Robby Gordon, the ‘Speed Energy Formula Off-Road presented by Traxxas’, more commonly known as Stadium Super Trucks, is a series that features custom-built, steel-tube frame trucks with 600bhp V8s and several feet of suspension travel. Drivers blast around street circuits across the globe, jumping over human-sized ramps and cornering almost entirely on three wheels.
The video you see here is an example of the madness that spectators are treated to, and, truth be told, in the grand scheme of SST racing, it isn’t that mad at all. 2018 saw many drivers miss-hit a jump roll their trucks, and one particularly keen driver tried to continue racing at full speed with a bonnet over his windscreen. Yes, he crashed.
Sit back and enjoy the madness, and we can only apologise if you end up down on of those bottomless YouTube rabbit holes. We’ll see you in a few weeks.
