Good show! Royal Enfield hits record speed at Bonneville

Competing in the 500 Modified Push-Rod Partially Streamlined category (I think we’ll call it MPPS from now on!), Nadine DeFreitas has recorded a verified speed of 157.2 kph at the Bonneville Salt Flats.

The Indian-made Royal Enfield Continental GT, prepared by top Triumph tuner and parts manufacturer Matt Capri, hit a speed just-shy of 100mph on the tricky lake bed surface. Modified camshafts, throttle bodies, cylinder head, and much more was required to persuade the bike to produce something in the order of double its original 29.1bhp.

Okay, 97.5mph may not sound like much especially on the vast expanse of Bonneville Salt Flats, but a record is a record and we reckon congratulations are in order!
