The announcement that next year's Safari rally will take up its traditional early spring slot was a boon for anyone who has been following the WRC for a coulpe of decades.
The scenes for which the Safari Rally became most famous were not hot arid blasts across Kenyan plains, but muddy battles with the elements as the rainy season closed in on the competitors.
While we're very excited for those images to return, the modern Safari Rally, in its two seasons back, has made a name for itself through some very differnt imagery: the best helicopter shots you'll ever see.
The Kenyan grasslands have relatively few trees and it's a flat plain, which means helicopter pilots find themselves much less hindered than normal when placing their craft. And that means long, low, fast tracking shots. The kind that get us totally hooked.
Those clever people at the WRC spotted this particular fascination, and put together a compilation of the very best. From the start of the super special to wide, long tracking shots where the chopper practically races the cars, skimming the local wildlife and crases as the aerial team showcase a spectacular mix of camerawork and flying skill.
We don't even have a favourite moment of this video, we could just watch it over and over.
