Take the 911 GT1, perhaps the quintessential homologation special. From the cab backwards, it was a 962, with its water-cooled turbocharged flat-six sitting in the middle. A 911 in badge alone, then. Then there’s the Peugeot 206 T16. Yes, it’s sort of the same same as a 205. Yes, it sort of has the same face. But what other 205 puts its engine in the middle, or is all-wheel-drive? What other 205 requires half of its body to lift off for access to the engine? Not exactly a nan-spec run-around for dawdling to the shops. God, we love homologation specials. Which is your favourite?
