A deep dive into FOS Future Lab 2026

02nd July 2026
James Day

FOS Future Lab presented by Randox is Goodwood’s innovation zone at the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, a four-day immersive exhibition that brings tomorrow’s world of science, engineering and technology to the forefront.

Located in a new home next to the cricket pitch and with astronaut Sir Tim Peake returning as ambassador, FOS Future Lab 2026 spans four themes — New Frontiers, Unseen Worlds, Intelligent Systems and Extending Reality.

The sheer breadth of STEM-related ingenuity and adventure runs from NASA’s return to the Moon and underwater habitats for humans, to robots with electronic skin and headsets turning brain activity into art.

With FOS Future Lab partners for this year including Formula E and tech giant IBM, here’s our guide to who’s there, what they’ve built, and why it’s worth a long look.

Why visit FOS Future Lab?

is a window into what’s next, curated to ignite curiosity and inspire across generations. Think interactive experiences and hands-on opportunities, alongside a line-up of pioneering scientists, engineers and innovators showcasing what will shape life to come.

From fox-like robots and fusion propulsion to quantum computing and digital recreations of ancient artefacts, FOS Future Lab is a chance to explore your inner geek and challenge some of the smartest minds in the business.

It’s also an opportunity for younger visitors to engage with world-changing innovations and spark their imagination for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).

Where to find FOS Future Lab

For 2026, FOS Future Lab has moved closer to the cricket pitch, putting it within easy reach of many of the festival’s best food and drink outlets — handy for the in-between moments when you’ve had a deep and meaningful chat with a humanoid and need to decompress.

The exhibition is open all four days of the event, with dedicated STEM workshops, illuminating panel discussions and interactive displays with accessibility for all ages.

FOS Future Lab is presented by Randox

Randox will again be the headline of FOS Future Lab in 2026, where the leading healthcare company will be showcasing what it claims is a world first.

RanChip Insight 360 is a preventative health intelligence platform featuring pioneering biomarker analysis designed to detect hidden risks, track long-term trends and help people take action sooner.

The system works by taking 250 biomarkers — such as blood sugar levels and cholesterol — and measuring them across 150 health conditions. At the heart of RanChip Insight 360 is the company’s proprietary Biochip Technology, which allows simultaneous analysis of multiple biomarkers from a single sample.

If this piques your interest, Randox representatives will be on hand at FOS Future Lab throughout the event, and look out for talks in the FOS Future Lab studio.

2026 FOS Future Lab themes

The 2026 FOS Future Lab is centred around four themes, each exploring a critical facet of technological innovation: New Frontiers, Unseen Worlds, Intelligent Systems and Extending Reality.

Discover the marvels of space travel and how we plan on returning to the Moon, or explore the depths of our oceans in ways we never thought possible. FOS Future Lab will show you how humankind is expanding its horizons.

The power of computers can reveal the greatest mysteries of the universe, and you'll have the chance to understand how. Explore the hidden secrets of historic artefacts and decipher the complexities of quantum technology.

Embrace the evolution of AI and robotics for good by meeting the humans — and humanoids — developing new skills and capabilities, plus don’t miss the chance to get hands-on.

Experience virtual worlds beyond our own with the advanced digital tools extending reality, including headsets turning your brainwaves into art and Sony’s new platform for spatial content creators.

New Frontiers

Return to the Moon
Centred on Artemis II, the first crewed mission of NASA’s Artemis programme and the first humans to journey around the Moon in more than 50 years. Curated with the European Space Agency, Dark Star Labs and leading space scientists, the zone explores the engineering, the science and the human story behind humankind’s return to lunar exploration — with Sir Tim Peake on hand as Future Lab ambassador.

Deep
While Artemis goes up, British-founded engineering company Deep is going the other way by building the first new open ocean underwater human habitat in 40 years. Why? Because around 95 per cent of the ocean remains unexplored and could hold the answers to countless pharmaceutical, agricultural, and carbon-capture breakthroughs.

Pulsar Fusion
The British trailblazer is building Sunbird — a compact nuclear-fusion space tug designed to cut interplanetary travel times in half. Sunbirds would meet ships already fired into space and supercharge the rest of their journey. Pulsar also makes electric and hybrid rocket propulsion, from low-Earth orbit to the outer solar system.

Unseen Worlds

Factum Foundation/ARCHiOx
Using cutting-edge 3D scanning and digital imaging, the Factum Foundation is uncovering hidden worlds inside the world’s great artworks and artefacts — from medieval maps and Renaissance masterpieces to carved stone surfaces preserving the fingerprints of the people who made them.

National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC)
The UK’s national laboratory for quantum computing is bringing some of the strangest technology on the planet to FOS Future Lab — and making it tangible. If you want to get your head around how qubits could solve multiple complex calculations before classical computers have slipped into first gear, the NQCC is the place.
