Dreadful weather during yesterday’s qualifying session meant that the superstar touring car pairing of Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden had to start today’s Warwick Banks Trophy for Under Two Litre Touring Cars from the seventh row of the grid.
Much overtaking was expected and Mr Neal, who took the opening stint before handing over to his Scottish counterpart for the last part of the race, did not disappoint. However it wasn’t as simple as picking off the slower cars one-by-one. At one stage our pilot seems to have the door firmly shut, but still a pesky Mini Cooper slides down the inside of the Lotus Cortina and threatens to make things difficult.
The star pairing eventually won the two driver race, but we don’t want to give too much away about how the opening lap panned out, which we’re sure you’ll agree is sensational viewing.
