At the 74th Members’ Meeting, the Graham Hill Trophy a slew of gorgeous '60s GT racers take to the Goodwood Motor Circuit. Some makes and models were represented in significant number, but Aston Martin was not among them. That’s why spotting this gorgeous white DB4 GT through the hoards of Cobras and E-Types was a personal “ohh, that's lovely” moment. It didn’t enjoy a great deal of fortune during the race in the end, but we were curious about the car's story, and quite fancied a good excuse to go and have a look around it.

This Aston Martin DB4 GT Is A Rare Beauty

This Aston Martin DB4 GT is a well documented sports GT racer. Ordered new in 1959 by one William B. Reardon, the car was possessed of the latest “Zagato” specification engine and was prepared as a racing car for participation in the 12 hours of Sebring, Bahamas Speed Week and Bridgehampton Grand Prix, to name a few. Following some factory upgrades in ’62, further racing and a sale in 1967, the car didn’t settle in one place for long before being purchased by Rex Woodgate in 1974.

From here the DB4 would see extensive competitive and road use on both sides of the Atlantic. Between 2002 and 2004 it underwent a full (minus the completely original interior) “frame-off, no expense spared” restoration by RS Williams Ltd. Following this, current owner Tom Alexander procured the car and has been a regular at numerous historic racing events. He is a regular attendees at Goodwood events including the first ‘revived’ Members’ Meeting in 2014, racing in the Moss Trophy.
Although competitively it was at best a lovable underdog at this years Members’ Meeting, a DB4 GT is always a glorious shape to see high tailing around the Motor Circuit. Not to mention the glorious throb of its straight-six engine. It will always be a welcome attendee.
