Video ‑ Record Holder Wrestles Lola T70 Round Goodwood

Hold on tight as Nick Padmore guns his ex-John Surtees 1966 Lola T70 Spyder Can-Am monster off the line at the start of the Whitsun Trophy at the recent 18th Goodwood Revival.

Historic ace Padmore qualified the 6-litre, British-built machine on pole for the Revival’s fastest race, but lost out at the start to the similar car of Pedro Macedo Silva – too much wheelspin, Nick?! – before mugging him for the lead around the outside on the way into St Mary’s half-way round the opening lap.

Padmore, who set the fastest-ever race lap of Goodwood – a 1m18.2s – during his charge to victory in the McLaren Trophy at the 73rd Members’ Meeting earlier in the year aboard the Phil Hall-owned Lola, stays out front to notch up his second Goodwood CanAm win.

Enjoy the first four laps of wheel-twirling, V8 grunt!
