Making its global debut here at the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, Aston Martin’s new ‘entry-level’ GT car, the DB11 with a new 4-litre turbocharged AMG V8 was certainly one-to-watch at this morning’s Moving Motor Show.

It is a car which will surely spark some debate with loyal Aston Martin fans questioning the place and principles of an AMG power unit within the iconic DB11 range, but in place it certainly is. With added rumblings that the engine is ready for future development and deployment within next year’s Vantage, it’s a reality one should get used to.
Coming in around £14,000 cheaper than the V12 at £144,900, the DB11 V8 looks like a good value proposition. and what it marginally loses in the power-stakes (the V8 produces 525bhp, which is 75bhp less than the existing twin-turbocharged V12 DB11), it wins back with the 100+kgs lost. it still very much looks like an Aston Martin, and only the eagle-eyed will spot the new wheels, darkened headlight bezels and a clutch of bonnet vents rather than the traditional four.
