The great thing about trying to categorise ‘Touring Cars’ is the fact that it’s so bloomin’ difficult to do. If variety is the spice of life, then touring cars are the spiciest specimens of the motorsport world, and the 2018 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard has quite the array for you to taste-test.

5 touring cars you must see at FOS

Ford Galaxie 500
The big, burly, Ford Galaxies have quickly turned into a firm Goodwood Revival favourite with their lumbering and dramatic drifty displays. This year, we’re going to see one of these V8-powered American-diner on wheels go up against the clock at FOS and it’s likely to get spectacular.

Volvo 850 Estate
Volvo estates from the early-'90s can attract the odd bit of flak and derision from certain members of society, but we think the joke is on them. These barmy behemoths have racing pedigree, and we think they are aging beautifully. Quick, retro, and bloody lovely to look at. What more do you want?
Audi S4 GTO
What to say about this car? It’s barely worth trying to describe how the Audi S4 GTO sounds when it whistles past. Just take our word for it. It did unspeakable things to most of the crowd last year, and we expect nothing less this time around, so get yourself trackside for a treat.

1972 Dodge Charger
Driven by Nascar royalty Richard ‘The King’ Petty, this 1972 Dodge Charger brings another piece of wholesome American muscle to proceedings. Rumoured to be his final trip over the pond, we expect everyone to give this legendary American racing veteran a warm Goodwood welcome as he rumbles through the Sussex countryside.
Volkswagen Golf 2 Bi-Motor
A VW Golf, powered by not one, but two turbocharged 1.8-litre, 16-valve engines. This little rocket was especially designed for Pikes Peak, and it has surely got to be one of the favourites to devour the Goodwood hill.
