Dress code
Although not compulsory, the vast majority of Revival visitors dress in period style with many going to great lengths to achieve that authentic look. The resulting step-back-in-time spectacle plays a key role in making the Revival such a unique event.
While you’re not required to dress up (unless you qualify for central Paddock access, in which case a jacket and tie is necessary for gentlemen, and a dress or suit for the ladies), you’ll feel much more involved if you do. And whether you go for the slick urban look, gentrified country style or chocs-away military aesthetic, it’s not difficult or costly to dress appropriately.

Opening times
The action on the circuit commences at 0845hrs on each day of the event. Gates open at 0730hrs, which provides a great opportunity to look around the paddocks before the action begins.
Car parks are free and open at 0700hrs.
While the main site closes around 1900hrs, bars and many other areas Over the Road stay open until 2200hrs on Friday and Saturday, and 2130hrs on Sunday. Last orders will be called approximately 30 minutes before closing time.
Security
The safety and security of everyone at the Goodwood Festival of Speed is of paramount importance to us. We work continually with Sussex police and other relevant authorities to reduce risk, taking action to put additional measures in place where needed. Although the national threat level has been raised for some time, there is no known specific threat to our events to cause public concern. Although it’s important to be alert and notify staff of anything suspicious, we urge you not to be alarmed.
There will be more extensive dog and bag search procedures for everyone at entrances and you will notice a stronger uniformed police presence throughout the site and the vicinity.
With increased security, access may take longer. Please be prepared for this and allow sufficient time and also bear in mind that if you exit at any stage, you will need to pass through security to re-enter.
You can help the security process by not bringing unnecessary bags, and having your bags ready to be searched as you approach the gates. For any bags you do bring in, please keep them with you at all times, or use our locker facility near Gate 1. We ask for your understanding, patience and cooperation with us and that you also inform your guests and party members of this update.
We also ask for your vigilance on matters of security. If you see or hear anything suspicious, please bring it immediately to the attention of the Police or our Stewards.
Drones
For everyone's safety, members of public are not allowed to fly drones at or over the Festival of Speed. Goodwood occasionally operates drones for offical use; these will remain clear of the public at all times.
Prohibited items
Prohibited items include sharp objects and knives (other than sensible picnic cutlery), excessive alcohol (alcohol for personal consumption with a picnic is acceptable at stewards' discretion), drugs, legal highs, any animals (except guide/assistance dogs) and drones.
Eating & drinking
You can bring your own picnic into the Revival and a reasonable amount of alcohol is permitted. Alcohol is not allowed in any of the Enclosures or Paddocks.
As well as our very own Farmer, Butcher, Chef Restaurant at the Goodwood Hotel, we have many other restaurants which can be pre-booked in advance including our on-site restaurant, Richmond Lawn. If you prefer to escape the Revival festivities and prefer a more relaxed environment, then our Goodwood Hotel options might be the perfect choice.

Lost child/vulnerable people
If you lose a person from your party, please report to the nearest Information point or to a member of Goodwood staff and then return to the last place you were together. Ideally the staff member will escort you but under no circumstances leave the staff member until you have given us your contact details.
Often, people in the heat of the moment, report an incident and then disappear, making it impossible to find them again. Most people do tend to return to the last place you saw them, so try not to stray too far from that point. If you have children or vulnerable people in your group, you are strongly encouraged to take a photo of them on a mobile device as you enter the event. That way, you won't have to struggle to describe them accurately and what they are wearing.
Children under 12 years, or any members of your party that you feel it appropriate, should wear one of our wristbands that you are able to write your phone number on. These are pre-booked online (choose Tickets Only and then select Children 12 & Under) or by calling Ticket Office on +44 (0)1243 755055.

Sustainability
Sustainability at Revival
The Goodwood family has been stewards of the land for centuries, working to preserve the estate and environment beyond. From reducing waste to off-setting carbon emissions, we are continually working to make our events greener. We:
- Encourage our visitors to use public transport or car share to get to our events, to help reduce car emissions and traffic in the local area
- Supply drinking water stations across the events and encourage visitors and staff to bring their own reusable bottles
- Provide recycling bins for plastic bottles and cans around the event, along with further recycling in back of house and kitchen areas
- Plant thousands of trees each year and continue to improve the environment through numerous hedge laying and re-wilding projects
In 2019 in particular we:
- Introduced a reusable cup deposit scheme at the racecourse.
- Increased the number of complimentary water fountains at our events.
- Switched to using LED tower lights across our events.
- Successfully trialled using bio-diesel in our generators at the Goodwood Revival.
- Doubled the number of customer bins to improve recycling on events.
- Across the estate, we planted more than 55,000 trees and laid long stretches of hedgerow.
Our 2020 events were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we are determined to pick up where we left off in. In 2021, subject to any COVID-19 limitations, we will be working to:
- Significantly cut single-use plastic bottles at events.
- Work with South Downs Water who have developed a 100% recycled plastic water bottle. We will use these for all water bottles at our events. We have chosen this route as 100% recycled plastic has a lower carbon footprint than using aluminium cans.
- Introduce reusable cups to remove single-use disposable plastic cups from all of our events. Event-goers will pay a £1 deposit for their first drink, swap the cup with each drink, then claim their £1 back at any exchange point at the end of the day. Or they can take it home and continue to use it!
- Offer a 20p discount on hot drinks, if you supply your own cup.
- Ensure on event food concessions use paper or compostable packaging.
- Improve recycling of glass and cardboard in all of our kitchens.
- Move to using bio-diesel in all of our generators at events over the next three years, to reduce our carbon footprint markedly.
- Expand our use of solar hybrid generators.
- Introducing a voluntary carbon offset levy to our ticket buyers. This will fund a number of tree planting, hedge laying and rewilding schemes across the estate.
Our Event Sustainability Management System is certified by BSI to ISO 20121, which has helped us to focus our work on sustainability and plan for the future.
You can find out more and see our policy here. Feedback can be sent to sustainableevents@goodwood.com.
