Names to remember
First up (as presented in the image above), The Foxes, who won the 7f EBF Maiden Stakes at the Qatar Goodwood Festival. From a family of Group winners since Goodwood he has won the credible Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes and will, without doubt, improve when upped in trip – for many, he features as a Derby candidate.
Platinum Queen became the first two-year-old winner of the Group 1 Prix de L’Abbaye at ParisLongchamp since 1978 – a remarkable feat. Owned by the enthusiastic Middleham Park Racing Syndicate, she was a lightning fast winner of the 5f Alice Keppel Fillies’ Stakes in July and is one to follow in the sprinting ranks next year.
Close form ties to Platinum Queen lead us to Trillium, who is the next on our list. The Richard Hannon-trained colt won the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes impressively and has since gone on to bag a Group 2 at York – perhaps a Group 1 is next.
Finally, Royal Scotsman, who won the Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood and has only recently finished a head second in the flagship two-year-old Group 1, the Dewhurst Stakes, a key pointer to next season’s Classics.
