Following our previous article, about our Health Club Member, Allan Coe, the Positively Parkinson's fundraising team set off on their ‘Big-Tri’… To mixed success.

The team faced a real-life challenge with the relay swim from the mainland to the Isle of Wight. Shortly after the start, the accompanying support vessel was involved in a collision causing the boat to take on water. Thankfully all of those onboard were rescued and returned safely to shore thanks to the speedy action of the RNLI from Yarmouth.

The bike ride was completed in August this year, with no dramas and without a single puncture between the two riders! Snowdon was completed in September, in not the best of weather conditions.

To finish off the year, we have set up an event based around the Big Tri, called the Mini Tri 2023. On 25 November 2023 you can come and partake in the first two parts. Starting at 09:00 with a 3km walk around the Goodwood Estate, starting and finishing at the health club. We would like to achieve 29 km which is the distance covered by ascending and descending Snowdon, this will be done accumulatively.

From 11:00 the swimming phase starts! We would like to achieve 100 km, the same distance as swimming around the IOW and every lap counts. To finish, on 10 December from 10:00, we are inviting you to come with your bikes to ride the iconic Goodwood Race Track. The goal is to achieve 1664 km, the distance cycled by our riders in August.

We encourage you to get sponsored to do these events or make a donation to partake in one, two or all of the events. For more information or to register your interest please email Wellbeing@goodwood.com

Positively Parkinson's will be giving a presentation again on 13 November at 18:15 at the Health Club, sharing stories and experiences from the Big Tri and discussing the bigger picture of a life with Parkinsons. This is a great opportunity to bring along family and friends to meet with the Positively Parkinson's team.
