World Touring Car Championship (WTCC)
The all-action FIA WTCC came to the Festival of Speed for the first time, with TC1 World Touring Cars on display. But it was an exhibition with a difference.
To celebrate the new partnership, the WTCC had three designers each creating the ultimate race car livery - with a live painting at the Festival of Speed on the Friday. WTCC Art Cars combined artistic design and motorsport in spectacular fashion.

Volvo Polestar
Prince Carl Philip drives for Polestar Cyan Racing in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship, is a Swedish prince and the only son of the Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf. Alongside his duties for the Swedish crown and his racing programme, the Prince is an active designer with his company Bernadotte & Kylberg AB.
"We are humbled and excited to get this assignment. The concept behind the design is the Swedish flag. We wanted to drape the car in the Swedish colours and to use Cyan Racing as an element in the design like a track texture. We also wanted to create a sense of constant motion on the car but still keeping it simple. A lot of the design in motorsport is overly complicated and we wanted to keep the Scandinavian tradition of simplifying things. We are very much excited to see the car at Goodwood Festival of Speed,” Bernadotte & Kylberg
Honda
Honda has established a partnership with the Jean Graton Foundation that will result in the car – to be known as the Honda Art Car Jean Graton – carrying a unique livery inspired by – and in the style of – his most famous creation, Michel Vaillant.
In 1957 he created a fictional racing driver named Michel Vaillant, whose stories were initially published in ‘Tintin’, but gained their own outlet just two years later. It is the Michel Vaillant stories that are the inspiration for the Honda Art Car Jean Graton.
