Addison Challenge Bowl
Goodwood entered a three man team in to the Addison Challenge Bowl hosted by Hayling Golf Club on Saturday 2nd September. Well done to Chris Dyson, Phil Birch, and Brian Arnell for coming 4th out of 17 teams. The standard of golf was very high, with the team finishing one shot away from second place and just missing out on third on countback with Lee-On-The-Solent. This is an incredibly impressive effort, and more so since the team missed out on a practice round.

Cissbury Salver
On Sunday 3rd September a four man team played in the Cissbury Salver at Worthing Golf Club with both rounds played over the tougher Lower Course.
The format was 18 holes foursomes, followed by 18 holes singles with scratch, stableford scoring. Both morning foursomes scores counted towards the overall team score, along with the best two singles scores.
Goodwood were leading at lunchtime with a fine display from young foursomes pair Charlie Parsons and Matt Lavington, who were under par for their round until a bad penultimate hole meant they finished an exceptional one over par, gross (35pts). This was added to a round of five over par gross (31pts) from David Porter and Nick Tull which, given the conditions, was another outstanding achievement. This total won Goodwood the Bedford Cup, a trophy Goodwood last won in 1996, although the previous victory was in a slightly different format.
This further underlined Goodwood's return to the top flight of men's scratch county golf arena and in part made up for loosing in the Oliver's Trophy final by finishing well ahead of East Sussex National, who prevailed last month.
The afternoon session was played in what could only be described, at times, as horrendous conditions but the boys battled hard eventually finishing fourth overall; another solid result to finish a very successful weekend's golf for #TeamGoodwood.
