5 Mile Run 2017
Last night saw the return of our annual road-race throught the Goodwood Estate. With a total of 250 runners taking on the infamous Hillclimb and the weather on our side, we really were in for a memorable evening.
In association with Winston’s Wish, our 2017 charity of the year, Winston Bear and his team were out in force to cheer on and support each of our runners as they stormed past Goodwood House and to the very top of the 1.87km incline. Whilst the iconic landmark, made famous by the multitudes of legendary motoring heroes, proved to be a challenge for some, none of our admirable runners showed signs of needing to throw in the towel!
And the support of our spectators made certain of a course record. We congratulated Mike Houston, our first place runner with an astonishing time of 28.11 minutes, closely followed by Goodwood’s own, Matt Jolly in second place, with 28.31 minutes. And last year’s champion, Stephen McLoughlin, was not going to let a podium spot slip from under his belt with a fantastic 29.40 minutes.
Emma Dixon was our first female finisher, with a time of 35.20 minutes, followed by last year’s winning female, Kate Stillwell with 36.41 on the clock. And closely behind was our third female finisher, Jessica Thomson, with another great time of 36.46 minutes.
And not forgetting our four-legged friends! Congratulations to Ben Hodgson and his running partner, Rolo, who were our first dog runners across the finish line in just 36.01 minutes! Jake and his owner, Ben Brown, came a very close second with 36.14 minutes and Richard Gray with the lovely Bessie were our third place dog finishers with 40.23 minutes.

With £1100 raised Winston's Wish, we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate every single male, female and canine that ran last night, and hope to see many faces return next year!
