Open Farm Sunday returns to Goodwood
Visitors can enjoy the beautiful countryside of Goodwood, learn about the importance of sustainability and animal welfare at Home Farm, have the opportunity to taste milk from the beautiful Shorthorn dairy cattle, make butter from cream, taste Goodwood cheese and sample delicious Goodwood beer.
There will be an opportunity to see the dairy cows grazing and find out about the crops that Goodwood grows, a chance to meet the vet and beekeeper, watch sheep shearing demonstrations and take part in wool and woodland crafts, and see dairy calves, pigs and sheep.
A tractor trailer ride will take guests down to the Goodwood Education Centre, headquarters of the Goodwood Education Trust, and the woodland nature trail in Seeley Copse for nature-based, Forest School children’s activities. The Education Centre is directly opposite the dairy, where visitors can watch the cows being milked from 2.30pm.
A gentle walk back through the fields brings you to the food area, where a range of food and drinks will be on sale. Feel free to pop into the farm shop to stock up on fabulous treats, including our newly launched Levin Down Goodwood Gin, Goodwood cheeses and meats and ice cream.
Emma Crane-Robinson, Goodwood’s Education Officer, said, “We’re excited to be opening Home Farm to members of the public again, having not had the opportunity to do so over lockdown. We’re proud to showcase how we farm organically at Goodwood - raising awareness of where food comes from, the work that farmers do and how the countryside is managed, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming children and adults to our fields and woodlands, to enjoy and connect with the natural world.”
LEAF Open Farm Sunday is free to attend.
