Goodwood honoured to be a grand finalist at the Sussex Food & Drink Awards 2019
Goodwood’s Home Farm and sustainable restaurant, Farmer, Butcher, Chef, are honoured to have been shortlisted to be Grand Finalists at the Sussex Food & Drink Awards 2019. Following 18,000 votes from the public, three finalists from each award category will be invited to the Awards Banquet at the Amex Stadium on the 15 May. Goodwood Home Farm is up for Sussex Food Producer of the Year, and Farmer, Butcher, Chef will be in the running for Sussex Eating Experience of the Year.
Goodwood’s restaurant Farmer, Butcher, Chef is the final stage of a unique process dedicated to producing the finest quality organic meat, as well as achieving the very best yield from the livestock at Goodwood Home Farm. Customers at the restaurant will have travelled farther than their food, and can enjoy seasonal dishes according to which cuts are available.
Alongside the award-winning meat, Goodwood Home Farm also produces 21,000 litres of milk a week, used to make three cheeses (Charlton Cheddar, Molecomb Blue and Levin Down). The Goodwood brewery produces three craft beers; Lucky Leap APA, Grogger Pale Ale and St Simon lager, made from hops and malted barley grown at the farm.
Andrew Coggings, Goodwood’s Entertaining and Hospitality Managing Director, says: “I cannot tell you how pleased we all are to be shortlisted for these awards. Supporting local produce and suppliers means so much to the business and it’s wonderful that Sussex Food & Drink Awards are recognising both Goodwood Home Farm and Farmer, Butcher, Chef as finalists.”
Sussex Farmer and Nuffield Scholar, William Goodwin, chairman of the judges, says: “The grand finalists announced so far, which include 21 from West Sussex, three from East Sussex and three from Brighton & Hove, should feel immensely proud at making it through to this final stage in the competition.”
