If you are looking further afield Goodwood has plenty of activities on its doorstep.
The stunning Sussex coast is home to The Witterings, just 20 minutes away by car, with its famous dunes and sandy beaches. Or perhaps pay a visit to Chichester Harbour, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty full of plants, marine life and birds, as well as the hustle and bustle of dinghies, yachts and motorboats.
Set on the edge of the spectacular South Downs National Park, the Goodwood Estate offers a whole host of interesting places to explore by foot or by car.
The Estate alone has 12,000 acres of parkland, woodland and green fields including some remarkable 300-year-old Cedar trees. Whether a picnic in the woods or a ramble across the fields there is plenty of wildlife and beauty spots to discover.
Explore the Valdoe, an enchanting ‘ancient’ woodland where you can search for The Devil’s Ditch, an entrenchment believed to have been built for defence purposes during the Iron Age. The centre of the Valdoe has eight radial paths, originally used during the eighteenth century for exercising the hounds at The Kennels, and which provided the perfect gathering point for the start of the day’s hunt.
