A Day in The Life Of Jen Bayford
A Day in The Life Of Jen
I started at Goodwood in March 2016 – my first day was at Members’ Meeting! I got my job here through my now manager Chris who I met during a conference at the Goodwood Hotel (with my previous employer who knew I was relocating back to West Sussex and was fully supportive!)
My first job was Brand Marketing Manager for Members’ Meeting and Revival, but I took on marketing for the Goodwood Road Racing Club in 2017 to help Alan and his team launch the GRRC Fellowship. I am now Senior Marketing Manager with a team of two, Thomas and Annie, who I could not live without.
My alarm goes off at…
I don’t have an alarm. I have a 6-year-old Frankie!
I’m responsible for …
Marketing for Revival, Members’ Meeting and the GRRC.
I got my job…
In 2016 by door stepping Chris, my manager!
My typical day involves…
Checking sales on the dashboards, planning marketing activity, working with design and the Duke on lovely creative things and drinking tea.
My most memorable work moment…
There are too many to mention! From dancing on the Richmond Lawn at my first Revival, to many silly times at the Blow Outs, our amazing staff Christmas party.
I think my most memorable moment recently was a brilliant away day with my GRRC colleagues where we went to the waterpark and had a lot of fun.
The worst part of my job…
There aren’t enough hours in the day – Goodwood is very fast paced, with lots of stakeholders, creativity and exciting projects to work on. I want to do them all but we have to be realistic and prioritise.
The best part of my job…
Making a difference! Being given creative license to put my mark on the brands and actually seeing my ideas make a difference to sales.
After work…
I pick up Frankie and we have bath-time, stories and a cuddle in bed before he goes to sleep.
The best thing about working at Goodwood…
It is so much fun, I love it every day! I never get Sunday night blues. I am pushed and challenged and have achieved more here than I ever have in any other job.
What have you discovered (about working at Goodwood) that you never would have known before?
How committed the Duke is to every aspect of the business. I enjoy working with him and coming up with creative ideas and making them happen.
Who (at Goodwood) would you most like to swap places with for a day and why?
Probably one of the farmers – it’s so brilliant that we have our own organic farm and I’d love to see how the produce gets from A to B (into our tummies at Farmer, Butcher, Chef).
