Motivate yourself
But in the midst of summer your brain, and looming beach holiday, tells you that really, you need to go to the gym before you go home and devour the bar of chocolate. So how do you motivate yourself? We’ve put together some of our top tips on ways to get your mind motivated for a full on gym session…
1) Try counting backwards - A relatively simple principle to apply when going through your repetitions and sets. Counting down instead of up makes those final few less gruelling. You’ve got the hardest part out of the way and now you are on the home straight!
2) Pay now, exercise later – If you’re plan is to participate in a class or a personal training session, pay for it ahead of attending. This will encourage you to go along, otherwise you are literally throwing your money away.
3) Get into your gym clothes before you leave work – Firstly, it is a gentle reminder of your intentions to work out. Secondly it makes you more accountable, to yourself and your co-workers. You are not going to want to admit in the morning, that actually you didn’t do what you said you would.
4) Set the bar low – don’t put too much pressure on yourself and challenge yourself to do just a quick fifteen minutes. If that is all you manage to do, you won’t be disappointed however you are likely to do more, that way you’ll be delighted!
