For some autumn may seem like a gateway to winter, leading us into darker evenings with busy work schedules interfering with our outdoor fitness regimes and dampening our motivation to get fit in the gruelling weather.

Step it up this autumn
However, we see autumn as a fresh start. Giving you the opportunity to start again in a new season, refreshing your goals and aims before the discussion of Christmas dinner begins!
So in a feat to keep you motivated this autumn, here are our top tips on how to step it up and change it up…
1) Set new goals
It is inevitable that with only 11 more Fridays until Christmas, the festive season will begin to become the top discussion point among friends and family. Try to use this to your advantage by giving yourself the best present of all – achieving your fitness goal! Sunday 25 December is going to be the day you take that ‘after photo’ (before all the Christmas cake is consumed) so that you can then relish in the rewards of your hard work.
2) Find a workout buddy
Everyone needs a little extra push when the darker evenings draw in. Try to arrange to meet a friend down the gym, or to go for a run together. This will mean you are less likely to bail as you don’t want to let your friend down, it will boost your competitiveness and also helps you to keep social, equally boosting your morale. When you are working out together, why not try out some partner exercises, like the ones featured here on our Twitter page.
3) Change your routine
The new season provides the perfect opportunity to mix it up. If you have stuck with the same routine over the summer now is the time to breathe new life into it. Perhaps it is time to swap the off-road run for a high energy studio class, or even just try a new class? We are doing the same at the Health Club, with three new classes being introduced – Aqua Yoga, Hydro Yoga and Power Circuit – all with the incredible Zeus.
