It’s a Knockout! 2016 Summer Knockouts Results

Men’s Singles

This knockout welcomed 60 entries to play six rounds on the Downs course throughout the summer months. After the first four rounds and the semi-finals, Dave Porter (2) played Ken Fisher-Pascal (13) in the final. Despite giving Fisher-Pascal 11 shots, Dave Porter was the victor, receiving 34 credits for his efforts.

Ladies Singles

This knockout welcomed 21 entries to play five rounds on the Downs course. The final was set after several close ties, with Jill Richardson (26) taking on Carol Smith (5). Richardson was receiving 21 shots, making it a very tough task for Smith, so it was the former who emerged the winner.

Seniors Singles

Thirty three entries played six rounds on the Park course in this competition and, after two very closely matched semi-finals, it was Vernon D’Costa (19) and Michael Hancock (14) who met in the final. After a well fought match going all the way to the 18th hole and very last shot, Michael Hancock was the victor receiving 19 credits for his efforts.

Scratch Singles

This knockout welcomed 17 entries to play five rounds of scratch matchplay on the Downs course, with the handicap limit set to 14 and below. Dave Porter (2) challenged Paul Millard (5) in the final and with only three shots separating their handicaps, a tight battle ensued. Dave Porter added to his victory in the men’s singles by taking the spoils.

Chapman Pairs

Thirty one pairs played five rounds of this intriguing matchplay format on the Downs course. Both players would tee off and then switch balls. After playing the second shots, the best ball is selected and an alternate shot format is played until the ball is holed. John McGregor and Aidan Walls challenged James Beck and the in-form Dave Porter in the final with McGregor and Walls winning 4&2.
