5 Reasons to Try Almond Milk
- Filled with nutrients – Enriched with Vitamin D, calcium, protein and minerals, almond milk is filled with the sufficient nutrients to act as a healthy alternative to cow’s milk. Sweetened or unsweetened, why not try and incorporate this milk into your morning tea or coffee?
- Low calorie count – Although almonds are 50% fat and somewhat high in calories, almond milk is a low-calorie beverage. One cup contains on average 39 calories, which is half of what can be found in semi-skimmed milk, meaning that you can enjoy larger quantities without the worry of weight gain.
- Does not increase blood sugar – Unsweetened almond milk can have little impact on your blood sugar levels, due to the exclusion of added sugars that can be found in other alternatives. For this reason, almond milk is suitable for diabetics and those that are keen to watching their sugar intake.
- Strengthen your bones – Dairy products are the richest form of calcium, whereas almonds are not. However almond milk is enriched with calcium, meaning that it can be a great source for people who cannot consume dairy in other forms.
- Dairy free – Almond milk contains no cow’s milk or other animal products, making it a great option for vegans or those that are intolerant or allergic to milk. Similarly, this could be the perfect solution if you’re looking for a way to reduce your overall dairy intake.
