5 Benefits of Meditation
- Reduce stress – Had a long day at work? Are the children driving you up the wall? Or maybe you’ve just got too many thoughts running through your mind? Taking time out to mediate allows to you gain control of your nervous system and your emotions, consequently regulating your levels of stress in the brain.
- Improve concentration – Sometimes having to maintain your concentration and stay engaged on one particular activity can be challenging. However, greater levels of concentration can be linked to the increase in internal energy that is generated through meditation.
- Increases happiness – Fast track your mind to its happy place. When your body is in a calm and comfortable state, it can increase your levels of feel-good chemicals and reduce your propensity towards negativity. From just a short period of meditation, you can transform your outlook on life for the rest of day.
- Slow ageing – The process of aging can be dismal to talk about, but it is one of those bitter facts of life. However, it seems meditation could be a simple hindrance to this. Essentially, by countering the effects of stress, immune health and happiness, this can indirectly keep your body in a younger state of mind for longer.
- Improve health - Your cardiovascular and immune health can benefit hugely from the practise of meditation. By inducing relaxation, your blood is able to flow more freely and subsequently reduce blood pressure. And by keeping your body in a well and positive state, it can improve your immune system and help fight off illness and infection.
