Following our Nourish food evening, we asked the ladies what five foods they cannot go without having in their cupboards

Healthy foods
1) Coconut oil - A highly saturated fat that is great for cooking with as it doesn't change molecular structure even at high temperatures. It can be really helpful in balancing blood sugar levels and can be an aid to weight loss.
2) Oats - These are the go-to grain. High in protein, soluble fibre and slow release carbohydrates. Oats are one of the most versatile ingredients and feature in many of our Nourish sugar-free recipes.
3) Cinnamon - LOVE this spice and use it in almost everything. Cinnamon has a whole host of benefits and has been shown to have a positive effect on blood sugar levels.
4) Butternut squash - So many things you can do with this amazing vegetable. Squash forms the basis of many dishes in our house from curries and chilies to soups, risottos and pasta sauces.
5) Mixed nuts - These are power houses of anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, proteins and essential fats. Many studies have shown that a small handful of nuts daily has a protective effect on heart health and that people who regularly include nuts in their diet are less likely to be overweight.
