Goodwoof welcomes back Treibball

08th January 2026

Regular Goodwoof visitors will have already enjoyed the amazing spectacle of the fun dog activity, Treibball. Treibball offers dogs, of all shapes and sizes, the chance to hone their herding skills and, appropriately in the year of the football World Cup, they use gym balls, instead of sheep or cows.

We are delighted to welcome back top Treibball practitioner, Bohdana Stoklasova and her team, who tells us here about her love for the canine sport and why it’s a Goodwoof must-do.

“Teaching your dog to ‘herd’ balls into a goal is fantastic fun for you and them. Treibball doesn’t require any special physical skills from either the dog or the owner which means that children, young dogs, elderly or physically disabled dogs or owners can all get involved.

“Treibball echoes a dog’s original working purpose engaging, not only with its body, but also with its mind therefore alleviating frustration and other behavioural issues. It’s a safe sport with no jumps or obstacles involved.

“Beyond the fun and excitement, Treibball really helps to build a deep relationship between human and dog, leading to a better connection, improved dog self-control, and off-leash reliability. Many people tell us that since beginning training Treibball with their dog, their lives together have become much easier and more joyful because of their better understanding of each other. Treibball is a relatively small community giving a wonderful opportunity to connect globally with like-minded dog owners with a passion for the sport.

How easy is it to introduce a dog to Treibball?

Bohdana explains, “The first steps are relatively simple. The dog first needs to learn how to push the ball which is done by concealing a reward under the ball which motivates them. Treibball for fun is very quick to pick up. The top-level participants in competitions though have trained for several years so that they can work at a distance of 20 metres using eight balls but there is plenty of scope for all levels of interest and commitment.

What can we look forward to seeing at Goodwoof in May?

“We offer accessible and fun Treibball training in the Have-a-Go area so that all dogs and their owners can try out our excellent sport which offers never-ending fun for all ages, breeds and levels of physical ability.
