20th October 2026

Tim Kerss flew the Jaguar in RAF service for 12 years, and in that time amassed 2970 hours on the aircraft.  As a first-tourist he was his squadron’s IRE and Electronic Warfare Officer.  On his second he was made a Qualified Weapons’ Instructor, and on the third served as a flight commander and instructor on the Jaguar Operational Conversion Unit at RAF Lossiemouth.  His final tour was as the Commanding Officer of 54(Fighter) Squadron, based at RAF Coltishall in Norfolk.  In his talk Tim will cover the introduction and development of the Jaguar, as well as the deployments that it saw during its 33 years of front-line service with the RAF.  He will talk about the weapons carried, the tactics employed and, of course, what it was like to fly an aircraft that was most at home going fast and operating down “in the weeds”.
