Mars Fetch Rover

Airbus (US, UK & ESA), 2021
Airbus returns to Future Lab in 2021 to present their latest Mars rover, built for the European Space Agency, which forms a critical part of NASA's 'fetch and return' mission, heading to the red planet in 2026. The rover will pick up and package soil samples left by the current Perseverance rover on Mars and transfer them up to an orbiting spacecraft, which will then begin an epic return journey to Earth.

Autonomous Truck Control

Einride (Sweden), 2021
After the unveiling of their self-driving logging truck at Future Lab in 2018, Einride are back. Using 5G, the Einride logistics model enables one human driver to control multiple autonomous trucks remotely, from the Control Centre in Sweden. Visitors to Future Lab will be able to try this out for themselves, manoeuvring around tricky obstacles.

Jet suits have always been a fantasy, but Gravity Industries are making them a reality. After the success of their fuel-powered jet pack, Gravity will be unveiling their new electric jet pack at the 2021 Festival of Speed and explaining how jet suits are finding a future in first medical responder and mountain search and rescue situations, and other challenging environments.

Airo for IM Motors

Heatherwick Studios (UK), 2021
Architectural and design studio, Heatherwick Studios, has designed a fully electric car with autonomous and driver modes that "cleans the air” around it as it drives, using advanced HEPA filters and demonstrates a future where the cabin of the car becomes a full living space. It has just been unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show.

Microlino EV

Microlino (Switzerland), 2021
A very tiny, very cute and very tidy little urban EV of the near-future. Just space for two people and shopping, with the door where the bonnet would usually be. The pre-production model has been used as a 'mascot' safety car at the start of Formula E race, the safety car for an electric scooter event and is making its debut on the international stage at Future Lab.

Nourished (UK), 2021
UK-based Nourished produce the world’s first 3D-printed supplements. Their unique 'life stacks', which are fresh and tasty vitamin sweets, contain a custom-made combination of nutrients, based on an individual's lifestyle and goals. Their proprietary 3D-printing methods ensure optimum efficacy and higher absorption than standard pills.

Robotic Farming

Small Robot Company (UK), 2021
The Small Robot Company have created three robots called Tom, Dick and Harry, who are revolutionalising the farming industry, using advanced AI and robotics. At Future Lab, you’ll see them demonstrating their weed recognition and electric pulse ‘weed zapping’ capabilities.

Triggo Electric Car

Triggo (Poland), 2021
A very clever little urban EV of the near-future. This tiny little two-seater is destined to become an autonomous taxi or urban car-sharing fleet vehicle. The pre-production model is coming to Future Lab, ahead of trials in UK and European cities later in 2021. Apart from looking great, its USP is its variable chassis, which expands for a stable drive mode and retracts for sleek parking mode.

Luca Car

TU & Ecomotive (Netherlands), 2021
From the same stable that brought Lightyear One to Future Lab in 2019, the team working on Luca want to show that sustainable technology can be attractive to consumers, by implementing waste as a valuable fabrication material in the body and inner-structure of a sporty little electric car.

Emotiv Brainware

Emotiv (USA), 2021
Emotiv develops wearable electroencephalography (EEG) products, including wireless neuroheadsets (brainware), which convert electric brainwaves into communication and commands for robotics. This technology can allow us to drive through the power of thought; as demonstrated in Future Lab through piloting Scalextric race cars.

Versatile Autonomous Vehicle

MOTIV (Gordon Murray) (UK), 2021
Gordon Murray Design and its consortium partners Delta Motorsport and itMoves have developed MOTIV, an ultra road-safe, electric autonomous vehicle platform. The vehicle’s single-seater layout can be adapted to seat multiple occupants, for wheelchair use, or for last-mile deliveries.

NAWA Racer

NAWA (France), 2021
NAWA Technologies has pioneered a hybrid ultracapacitor, set to revolutionise electric vehicles. It features a hybrid battery combining NAWA’s ultracapacitors with lithium-ion cells, enabling more efficient energy management, extending range and lowering weight.

Flying Car

PAL-V (Netherlands), 2021
PAL-V first exhibited at the inaugural Future Lab 2017, with their very first prototype Liberty One 1:1 static model vehicle. They return for 2021, to present the first European road-approved, and recently EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) approved, commercially available true flying car – or personal air-land vehicle.

Starship Technologies develop self-driving robotic delivery vehicles. They travel on pavements, cross roads at pedestrian crossings and have a luggage compartment for deliveries such as medical prescriptions and grocery orders.

Haptic Touch Technology

Ultraleap (UK/USA), 2021
Ultraleap develops haptic touch technology, with hand-tracking, which powers intuitive, touchless control for AR/VR, interactive screens and automotive interfaces. Haptic technology enables us to ‘feel’ 3D shapes in thin air, through a projection of high-frequency ultrasound waves.

Zero-Emission Delivery Vehicle

Tackling the ‘last mile’ delivery challenge in cities – EAV’s solution is a nimble, zero-emission delivery vehicle designed 'down from a van rather than up from an eCargo bike’. They are made from sustainable materials including natural fibre composites and recycled metals.

Case IH Driverless Tractor

Another UK Premiere for FOS - the giant all-electric driverless tractor is a concept vehicle, created to test a range of smart technologies that will make future farming more productive, working towards a time that these vehicles could be deployed with programmed activities day and night. The big red robo-tractor was a popular sight, as it stood sentry outside the Future Lab pavilion in 2019.

Airspeeder

Alauda Racing (Australia), 2019
The world’s first flying car race series debuted its prototype at FOS Future Lab 2019. A hybrid of classic race-car aesthetic with pioneering drone-racing technology, Airspeeder showcases eVTOL, agility, safety and AR and the first races are not far off. An unmanned demonstration flight also took place at the Goodwood Motor Circuit in 2019.

Kar-Go Delivery Vehicle

Academy Of Robotics (UK), 2019
Future Lab saw the global unveiling of Europe’s first autonomous, electric delivery vehicle, named Kar-Go, which drove itself around FOS for several demo laps. The Academy of Robotics combined leading vehicle design, advanced AI driving capabilities and a patented internal package sorting mechanism to offer a more sustainable delivery solution.

AeroMobil 4.0 Flying Car

AeroMobil (Slovakia), 2019
The AeroMobil 4.0 hybrid prototype vehicle aims to cut traditional airline travel times by removing the switch between different modes of transport. In testing, its powerful engine provides greater range and energy efficiency than civil helicopters and personal drones. It spread its wings at regular intervals at Future Lab 2019, making a big impression with its carbon composite structure for both aerodynamic performance and automotive strength.

Ooho Edible Packaging

Notpla (UK), 2019
Founded by a team of design engineers and chemists from Imperial College London, the material Notpla was invented after witnessing the sheer volume of one-use plastics discarded at a city marathon. This edible substance, made from an extract of seaweed, packages gulp-size portions of liquid – in a robust bubble called an Ooho – for individual consumption at events such as marathons or festivals. It proved incredibly popular at Future Lab 2019.

Triton 36000/2 Submersible

Triton Submarines (USA), 2019
The cutting-edge Triton 36000/2 carried US explorer Victor Vescovo to the bottom of the world’s five deepest oceans, as part of The Five Deeps Expedition. Exploring the ‘final frontier’ on Earth to record-breaking depths, it hit world headlines in May 2019 having found a plastic bag 11km below the Mariana Trench surface. As the only submersible capable of enduring multiple dives, the Future Lab exhibit showcased a diving simulator replica of the craft.

Einride T-Log

Einride (Sweden), 2018
The global debut of this all-electric autonomous logging truck reached a worldwide audience of more than a billion people, through the coverage generated across all media. The Einride Pod demonstrated further advances in the field of autonomous transport when it drove a lap of the motor circuit as part of Goodwood SpeedWeek, 2020.

ispace Moon Rover

ispace (Japan), 2018
ispace see the moon as a stepping stone for further interplanetary travel. Developing networked micro-robotic systems they aim to deliver the potential first moon-based economy, Moon Valley, as part of a programme to colonise the moon. Their compact lunar rover is designed for cost-effectiveness, mobility and endurance: carbon fibre, teflon, curved edges, integrated solar panels, link structure suspension and anti-skid wheels come as standard.

Makr Shakr Robotic Bar

The world’s first robotic bar system visited the UK for the first time as part of FOS - another Future Lab exclusive debut -  and proved a very popular destination for thirsty festival-goers. Serving up to 120 drinks per hour, created from 130 different spirit optics and over 100 flavour ingredients, the advanced robotic arms can mix potentially millions of different cocktail combinations, not to mention slice a lemon, pop wine corks and flip beer bottle tops too.

JB11 Jetpack

Jet Pack Aviation (USA), 2018
The JB11 - the world’s most advanced Jetpack - was on display in the Future Lab pavilion and successfully completed its first ever European flight at FOS 2018. Flown by expert pilot, David Mayman, the JB11 flew into the Goodwood history books as the first ever jetpack to fly up the estate’s iconic Hillclimb.

MOTOBOT Robot Motorcyclist

Yamaha (Japan & USA), 2018
MOTOBOT is a humanoid robot able to autonomously ride a motorcycle around a racetrack. It fuses Yamaha's expertise in developing motorcycles, with their industrial robot technologies. Based on data for speed, engine RPM and machine attitude, it features six actuators that precisely automate riding operations to execute actions similar to a human rider – operating the steering, throttle, front brake, rear brake, clutch and gearshift pedal.

Lunar Habitation

Foster + Partners & ESA (USA & UK), 2018
A variety of models, robotics, designs, 3D printers, VR animation and mini-vehicles showcased the impressive results of a collaboration between Foster & Partners and the European Space Agency - demonstrating the practicalities of building on Mars and the Moon. The interactive display gave an insight into how humans could colonise the surface of both, using the regolith thereon to shape habitations, courtesy of remote-controlled robotics and 3D printing.

Roborace

Roborace driverless all-electric race car (USA), 2017

The world’s first autonomous racing series, Roborace is a regular at FOS. Having debuted at Future Lab 2017, the spectacular vehicle made history the following year as the first driverless racing car to drive the Goodwood hillclimb, returning in 2019 to break its own record.

PAL-V Liberty

PAL-V (Netherlands), 2017

The world’s first commercially-available production flying car, the PAL-V (Personal Air Land Vehicle) appeared at Future Lab 2017 with its multi-patent three-wheel two-seater gyroplane and is taking orders for private customers.

Stratasys 3D Printer

Stratasys (USA & Israel), 2017

Cutting edge 3D printing global leader, developing the industry’s most advanced multi-material printing machine technologies. As well as exhibiting a functioning machine at Future Lab 2017, a collaboration with LaserLines and artist Nick Ervinck employed a Stratasys device to create a new sculptural piece to act as the Goodwood FOS shoot-out trophy.

FPV Drone Racing

Thrust UAV & PCS Edventures (USA), 2017

US racing drone manufacturer Thrust UAV brought drone racing to FOS for the first time, with a Future Lab showcase and a FPV VR (First Person View Virtual Reality) experience demonstrating a high-speed trip around the rally stage. Additionally, with parent company PCS Edventures, the brand launched their STEM Drone initiative, a new education programme.

Pop.Up Flying Taxi

Italdesign & Airbus (Italy), 2017

Engineering expertise combined to conceive Pop.Up – the first self-piloted, modular, fully electric, zero emission, VTOL passenger concept vehicle system. Debuting at Future Lab was this design to relieve traffic congestion in crowded megacities, a challenge projected to hugely increase by 2030.

Boom Supersonic Jet Plane

Boom (USA), 2017

An eye-catching scale model of the small private jet plane capable of supersonic flight, coined the natural successor to Concorde, was displayed at Future Lab. 55 business-class passengers can travel at 2.2 times the speed of sound (1,451mph), enabling world-changing itineraries such as 3 hour 15 minute day trips from New York to London and just under 7 hours to Sydney from Los Angeles.
