Overview

Begin your evening with a welcome drink in The Kennels before stepping out onto the front terrace for a Spitfire flypast, performed for you by one of the world’s most iconic aircraft.

After the flypast, take your seats and hear fascinating insights into the Spitfire’s history and legacy from historian and pilot, Mark Hillier. You will then hear from Matt Jones, our Spitfire pilot for the night, as he shares tales of his impressive international flying career and the connection he shares with the Spitfire.

After the talk, you will be invited for a Q&A before your three-course dinner. Please note, tables for the event may be shared with other guests.

About Matt Jones

Matt first took to the skies while in the RAF CCF section at Exeter school where he flew Chipmunks. After studying Civil Engineering at Newcastle University and working for an investment bank in London he saw the light and made plans for a career in aviation. He went to the USA where he acquired his first private and professional licences (FAA Commercial CFI, CFII, MEI) and on his return converted to a CAA Frozen ATPL.

About Mark Hillier

Mark is a qualified Private Pilot and RAF Gliding Instructor with over 30 years of aviation experience and passion. Mark is also a published aviation historian with over 14 books to his name. He has also appeared on television discussing iconic aircraft such as the P-47 Thunderbolt, Avro Lancaster and the Supermarine Spitfire.
