Last month Helen O’Neill’s published a fascinating book, Daffodil: biography of a flower charting its long and colourful history. From a diagnosis of breast cancer (when she was inundated with daffodils) to the sanctity of her parents’ beautiful garden, which bloomed with many varieties of the flower every spring, her love affair with this flower reaches far and wide. She says the book “was a real voyage of discovery for me. There is so much romance and mystery bound up in this flower.”
