It was set to be an exciting day for all, with lots of juniors from around the county descending to The Park course to play in an exciting stableford competition.

Overall, we had 19 teams taking to the course, with three juniors in each team joined by a PGA Professional who would support them throughout the day, with the juniors able to take away valuable tips to help improve their game.

The Academy was bustling with excitement with everyone warming up ahead of the start. Academy Manager and PGA Professional, Chris McDonnell, welcomed everyone to Golf At Goodwood before each team joined together and made their way to their starting hole.

As the day went on, the sunshine appeared and competition was rife on the course with some excellent golf played. On the course, there were longest drive and nearest the pin competitions, as well as a Flop Shot Challenge that everyone could play when they had finished the 14th. After 18-holes, there was a fun Pro’s Shootout which was won by Jack Halsey.

It was then back to The Goodwood Hotel to enjoy a delicious two-course meal before the winners were announced. Luke Ringrose, from Tilgate Forest, was crowned the winner of the pro’s competition.

Then it all came down to who had won the team competition, with a score of 91 points, Golf At Goodwood managed to bring it home with Christian Fogden, Harry Naughton, Freddie Gillett and Joseph Thorne. Results from the day can be viewed here.

Golf At Goodwood Academy Manager, Chris McDonnell said, “This was a unique experience for junior golfers in the Sussex county to get a chance to play with a PGA professional in a Pro-Am tournament. The juniors had a fantastic time and took away valuable on-course skills after seeing how the pros play the game. It was lovely to see a mixture of boys and girls playing which shows how well Sussex are doing growing the game.”

A huge congratulations to everyone who took part and we look forward to welcoming you back to Golf At Goodwood very soon.
