Overview

The Charlton Hunt was the earliest recorded foxhunt in the country. Its fame for superb sport drew the elite of society, including the 1st Duke of Richmond who bought Goodwood as a place to stay to go hunting and entertain his illustrious friends.

That heritage has inspired this popular entertaining space, designed with accents of marble and walnut. The dining room enjoys unrivalled views across the course and the Charlton downs beyond. Guests can enjoy an a la carte menu inspired by the best local produce.

In 2017, for the first time in over 250 years the Charlton Hunt was recreated for just one day. It was captured by internationally-renowned photographer Uli Weber whose photographs hang on the walls of the restaurant. A hunt coat, made by Henry Poole of Savile Row, in the distinctive Charlton Hunt colours of Garter blue with gold buttons, is framed at the end of the room.
