Clash of the Titans

Four-time Goodwood Cup hero Stradivarius is set to take on recent Ascot Gold Cup winner Subjectivist in the most-anticipated clash of the British flat season to date.

Both are due to line up in Tuesday’s feature, the £500,000 Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup.

Trainer Mark Johnston’s stable star, Subjectivist, is building quite a CV, with his success at Royal Ascot coming of the back of an equally dominant display here at Goodwood last August in the March Stakes before victory in the Dubai Gold Cup at Meydan, UAE, in March.

Nevertheless, Stradivarius has made the Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup his own since landing the spoils for the first time as a three-year-old in 2017. Bjorn Nielsen’s homebred is chasing an unprecedented fifth straight win, a feat unlikely to be repeated in a race that dates back to 1812.

Will Stradivarius retain his crown against the younger Subjectivist?

It’s not to be missed, all eyes will be on day one of the Festival.
