Flying training began at Goodwood in 1940 when pilots were taught operational flying techniques in Hurricanes and Spitfires.

The Division 2 ladies played in the final of the Sussex County Ladies Inter Club Championship at Littlehampton on the 22nd August.
Their opponents were Copthrone Golf Club, who won the championship in 2016. It was a close contest with wins from Kim Yates and Jo Dyson, but Copthrone managed to win two consecutive matches meaning Goodwood narrowly lost 4-3. Captain Helen Todd said, “I am incredibly proud of every single member of this team, everyone has contributed to our success this year and we have a lovely team spirit, are great fans and have a lot of fun.”
A huge thank you to Helen for all her hard work as she steps down as captain after three years. Henny Brown takes over next season.
Harry Callow and Jamie Burchell continued their fantastic summer at the 2018 Sussex Under 15 Championship at West Hove. Callow finished first with a score of 74, with Burchell runner up with 75. Between them, they have picked up the Under 12s, 13s and 15s Championships!
Jack Berry and Zach Hauffe, who have worked their way through our junior pathway, impressed at their first County Championships, the Under 12s, with Zach finishing second in the Nett Competition.
A huge congratulations to all of those who took part in the Grandmothers’ Cup which took place on The Park Course on Wednesday 29 August. 34 ladies took part by playing either nine or 18 holes and donated their entry fee to Canine Partners. Over £349 was raised with Barbara Parker crowned this year’s winner.
The Order of Merit was won by Jamie Burchell, scoring an amazing 47236 points over the 10 competitions throughout the season. Frances Cheney won the Ladies and Terry Kerr won the Seniors Order of Merit.
Peter Griffin was the lucky winner of a trip to Costa Brava after winning the final Order of Merit, The Lord Esme Cup.
