To celebrate National Insect Week, we are delighted to announce an exciting addition to the Motor Circuit site, the introduction of 12 beautifully crafted bug hotels.

These mini sanctuaries, created by the Goodwood Grounds Team during the winter months, are designed to provide a safe haven for insects and minibeasts. From pollination to natural pest control, bug hotels offer a range of benefits in supporting biodiversity and creating a buzzing haven for nature.

The bug hotels are made entirely from recycled materials which is a great way of using waste wood, leaves and branches cleared from the site. All these materials cater to the diverse needs of different species, creating an inviting environment for them to thrive.

We currently have 2 large bug hotels at the circuit, one on the Super Shell Lawn and one on the Hurricane Lawn, and medium-sized hotels in both the Motor Circuit café and the Memorial Garden. Smaller ones are dotted around the site, hiding under trees and in little nooks.

We are also very happy to share the exciting news that the Motor Circuit’s first bird box made from recycled materials has become a home to a family of blue tits, we’re hoping to see some chicks in the coming weeks. The Grounds Team plan to make more bug hotels and bird boxes over winter to try and increase insects and wildlife to the circuit.
