See what went down on day one of the 2016 Qatar Goodwood Festival
Day 1 - Tuesday
The undoubted sporting and social highlight of the season, the Qatar Goodwood Festival gets underway in 2016 with the Opening Ceremony on Tuesday 26 July.
Day 2 - Wednesday
The Qatar Sussex Stakes is one of the highlights of the flat racing season, with prize money of £1million attracting a world-class field. This mile-long Group 1 race has previously been won, in both 2011 and 2012, by the peerless Frankel.
Day 3 - Ladies' Day
Ladies’ Day is the most glamorous day of the meeting and is truly the place to see and be seen. There’s plenty of action both on and off the track with three group races and the unique ladies celebrity race, The Magnolia Cup, taking place.
Day 4 - Friday
The sight of a packed field of horses hurtling at speeds of over 40mph past the Goodwood grandstands makes the £300,000 Group 2 Qatar King George Stakes one of the highlights of the year. In addition there are three further Group races on this day.
Day 5 - Saturday
The 2016 running of the Group 1 Qatar Nassau Stakes will be the most significant mid-summer race for fillies and mares, thanks to the £600,000 prize money. Previous winners include the likes of Ouija Board, Midday, The Fugue, and Legatissimo.

31 go forward for the enthralling Qatar Sussex Stakes
The Group One Qatar Sussex Stakes has 31 entries going forward following the July 5 scratchings deadline and an enthralling renewal of the mile contest, worth £1 million for the second year, is in prospect on Wednesday, July 27, day two of the Qatar Goodwood Festival.

Hayley Turner - Magnolia Cup Jockey's Ambassador
Goodwood Racecourse has today announced that Hayley Turner, the most successful female jockey in British racing history, will take up the role as ambassador for the 6th Magnolia Cup Ladies charity race.
