A message from Cancer Research UK
Cancer Research UK has been at the heart of progress towards beating cancer in the UK. We are continuing to tackle women’s cancers on all fronts – from improving the prevention of breast and cervical cancers, to overcoming treatment resistance in ovarian cancer.
Thanks to research, breast cancer mortality rates have fallen by 10% in five years, due to a better understanding of the genetics of the disease, together with new drugs and surgical techniques. But there is still so much more to be done in cancers affecting women.
With the help of our generous supporters, right now our researchers are investigating why breast cancers can become resistant to hormone therapies, studying the psychology of why some women don't participate in cervical screening, and finding new treatments for ovarian cancer.
