Presented by Bonhams

A stunning architectural exhibition and competition of cutting-edge kennel design that brings together the great and good of architecture and design, Barkitecture is spearheaded by Kevin McCloud MBE and The Duke of Richmond.

A unique competition

Now in its third year, Barkitecture is a unique design competition featuring an inspirational collection of 21st century kennels. Previous entrants have included such luminaries as Foster & Partners (responsible for the Gherkin, Apple HQ and McLaren Technology Centre), Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners (Lloyds Building, Pompidou Centre, Millennium Dome) and Love From design business comprising of Jony Ive (exHead of Design for Apple) and Marc Newson (industrial design guru).

All kennels are auctioned at the close of the event at The Bonhams Barkitecture Auction for Goodwoof's chosen charity.

Barkitecture 2024

Barkitecture returned for 2024, with a brand new theme ‘Lounge Access: For the Jet-Setting Dog’. Architects were challenged to design a kennel that creates a sense of calm and tranquillity for dogs accompanying us on our travels. Now more than ever - whether short or long haul - our jet-setting pets are becoming frequent travellers on planes, trains, bikes and automobiles. A collection of architects returned to showcase their amazing and inspirational creations at Goodwoof.

And the winner is...

The winner of 2024's competition was Rolls Royce - Anders Warming with "Pet-All" which sold for £1,300 in the Bonhams Barkitecture Auction. The kennel that was sold for the most amount of money was "Dash-Hound" by Birds Portchmouth Russum Architects Ltd for £7,000. A total of over £37,300 was raised in aid of the Goodwoof charity partner, Jai Dog Rescue.

Dogs mean so much to their owners so I'm looking forward to seeing some fantastic designs to house them in style.

Kevin McCloud
