We are thrilled to unveil this year’s beautiful jockey silks, which have been created by renowned British fashion designer Alice Temperley.
Carefully selected from the Temperley archive, which spans over 20 years of fashion design, the silks incorporate some of Temperley’s most iconic prints. Each motif is hand painted and engineered to the female form, coming in multiple striking colourways that have been chosen in order to individually identify each jockey on the racecourse. A personal favourite, the Avril Print draws inspiration from the psychedelic colour palette of the late Sixties and was originally designed during lockdown – when Alice was filled with nostalgia for dancing in a field and a curiosity for what would come next! Other celebrated prints that feature on the silks draw inspiration from nature, from Agate Crystals to Animal Print – a Temperley signature look.
I am thrilled to play a part in the Markel Magnolia Cup, supporting such a wonderful initiative – Education Above All. One of my great loves is horses, so it seems fitting to design bespoke Temperley silks to empower the female jockeys.

The 2023 Markel Magnolia Cup charity race is held at Goodwood racecourse and features a field of strong, inspirational women who have set aside their day jobs to become jockeys for the occasion.
Run at the Qatar Goodwood Festival on Friday 4 August, the Markel Magnolia Cup is now in its twelfth year and has raised more than £2.1m for a number of charities since its inception.
The race is run over five-and-a-half-furlongs down Goodwood’s straight in front of a crowd of around 25,000, for many of the riders this is the first time they have ever raced on an actual racecourse.
