Jake and James put our high performing fleet of BMWs to the test last week with a series of fast, fun and highly competitive laps of the Goodwood circuit. Alternating between the edgy energy of the charismatic MINI’s, and the sleek speed of the M series, the boys had a blast.
Both Jake and James kicked off in the energetic MINI’s which whizzed around allowing them both to get to know the track in a car renowned for its edginess and go-kart style. After 20 minutes of driving around the circuit in the MINI’s the guys felt at ease with what was ahead of them and enjoyed the swiftness of the cars as they lapped the circuit.
The M Series BMW’s were up next and the guys performed well around the circuit in these souped up performance cars. By the end of their laps they were absolutely buzzing with excitement, understanding the different tech specs of the cars allowing them to know exactly what they wanted to drive home in.
After an hour of driving on track themselves, it was now time for the instructors to get their own back.
Out steps Jody Fannin, one of our top instructors. Jody has been competing at National level since 2009 and has since competed in the British GT Championship and Spa 24 Hours. There was no doubt that Jody was going to show them exactly how it’s done.
After a tense few laps around the circuit with Jody in the BMW M235i Racing, Jake and James couldn’t believe how fast they went and clearly felt that they weren’t actually driving as fast as they thought they were when they were behind the wheel.
Needless to say, they definitely felt the need for speed after that lap.
With adrenaline running high, and wanting to do it again, they left with another new experience under their belt and a desire to drive home in a BMW i8.
If you think you could do better than Jake or James, then get behind the wheel yourself and show the track what you’re made of. With packages and bespoke options available for groups.
