Overview

Begin your evening with a welcome drink before taking your seat and hearing from Marina Christopher and the world of Cow Parsley, Umbels and the Apiaceae family. Dive into the diverse family as Marina brings real life examples of the species, discussing what makes them common and uncommon.

The event concludes with an open Q&A, giving members the chance to ask about specific species, garden cultivation, plant ecology, or Marina’s wider work.

Marina will be bringing plants, an eclectic range of tools and propgation sundries for members who wish to purchase on the night.

About Marina Christopher

After studying botany, marine biology and ecology and completing three years of postgraduate research, Marina left lab work in 1984 to become a nurseryman. After earlier ventures as Firecrest Nursery and Green Farm Plants, she founded Phoenix Perennial Plants in 2002. The nursery focuses on creating a balanced ecosystem by avoiding chemicals and encouraging beneficial insects. Under Green Farm Plants she won several RHS medals and Phoenix now supplies leading designers at the Chelsea Flower Show, contributing to multiple “Best in Show” gardens. Marina also lectures using live plant material rather than slides, covering plant families, propagation, seed collection, gravel-bed and chalk-soil gardening.
