King Edward VII (who came almost every year) famously dubbed Glorious Goodwood “a garden party with racing tacked on”.


After the first public race meeting in 1902, 'Glorious Goodwood' became a highlight of the summer season.


King Edward VII turned his back on the traditional morning suit and donned a linen suit and Panama hat. Thus the Glorious Goodwood trend was born.

A 20m woodland rue, from Halnaker to Lavant, was planted by our forestry teams & volunteers, featuring native species like oak, beech, & hornbeam

Your day begins with an exclusive talk from our resident gamekeeper, Graeme Hunt, who will share the Estate’s time-honoured field-to-fork philosophy. Learn about the ethical rearing of pheasant, the sustainable management of our wild deer population and how conservation and stewardship go hand-in-hand with producing exceptional game.
Then, roll up your sleeves and head into the kitchen for a hands-on butchery and preparation session led by The Kennels Head Chef, Dan Turner. Here, you’ll discover how to break down and prepare game meat with skill and confidence, gaining practical culinary techniques and a deeper appreciation for this seasonal ingredient.
The experience culminates with a relaxed two-course lunch, expertly crafted with Estate game and served with a perfectly paired glass of wine.
