Jess and Tom

30th January 2019

Jess and Tom tied the knot at Goodwood’s stylish member clubhouse in August 2018. Showcasing an abundance of eccentric, British style, we caught up with the happy couple to hear all about their special day at The Kennels.

“It was just such a joyous and laughter-filled day that so perfectly represented us. Everyone at The Kennels was amazing at looking after us and working with us to create the most incredible wedding day.

We love The Kennels as we are members and since day one of planning our wedding, we have very much felt part of the family. We frequently come to Goodwood for a weekend to get away and have always loved just relaxing at The Kennels with a Bloody Mary or G&T, whilst reading the papers or books. It has always felt like our place and therefore very obvious that we should get married there.”

“As a wedding venue, The Kennels is very intimate. It was like having our own house party! The wonderful 1920s feel meant we didn’t really have to do much to make it look amazing. Albert and Arthur created the most incredible floral displays, which complemented each of the rooms perfectly. With the help of the fantastic staff, we made the world’s longest caterpillar cake and were able to make our Austin 7 Ulster car a big part of the day. We bought the car just two weeks after meeting each other and since then we’ve had many adventures in it. Watching it be pushed through the front doors by Tom in his morning suit and the group of Kennel's staff was quite an entertaining and surreal moment!”

Everything came together to make it feel like a fantastic house party.

“The food was fantastic and it was lovely to be able to give our guests such a choice of dishes to eat. The Lemon and Rosemary Baked Alaska was a particular highlight as this is usually a staple on the menu at Farmer, Butcher, Chef. As we are such big fans, The Kennels' chefs kindly recreated it for us. My parents’ Labrador, Henry, attended the reception and was certainly grateful for the leftovers! After supper, the dancing turned fairly raucous and as the brass band played some fantastic songs, it really didn’t feel like a traditional stuffy wedding, which is exactly what we wanted.”
