Flying training began at Goodwood in 1940 when pilots were taught operational flying techniques in Hurricanes and Spitfires.

After a fire in 1791 at Richmond House in Whitehall, London, James Wyatt added two great wings to showcase the saved collection at Goodwood. To give unity to the two new wings, Wyatt added copper-domed turrets framing each façade.

A temple-folly guarded by two sphinxes, the beautiful shell house was built in 1748 with collected shells and the floor made from horse teeth.

Today, you’ll take the wheel of your classic Mercedes Benz for the first time, setting off from Saint-Rémy-de Provence towards Les Baux de Provence. From there, we’ll continue our journey to Avignon, beautifully nestled in the heart of Provence. Once home to the papacy, Avignon invites us to explore its rich history on a guided tour, where we’ll visit its world-famous landmarks, including the grand Palace of the Popes, the iconic Pont d’Avignon, and the charming,
picturesque old town.
We will then make our journey back to the hotel, where you will have a free evening to dine at your leisure and make the most of the beautiful hotel facilities.
After breakfast, we’ll embark on a scenic drive through the enchanting Alpilles mountains, taking in breathtaking views of rugged limestone peaks and rolling hills as we make our way towards the unique landscapes of the Camargue and the historic town of Arles. In Arles, a small town famed for its Roman amphitheatre, you can choose to explore this fascinating landmark on a guided tour, where you’ll learn about its storied past and significance, or wander at your own pace, discovering the town’s many other hidden gems. Before arriving back at Le St. Remy, we will stop en route at Château Romanin for a wine
tasting experience.
This evening, we’ll be hosted by La Maison de Boeuf, where an unforgettable dining experience awaits lovers of fine meat and authentic Provençal flavours. Specialising in premium cuts of beef, the restaurant expertly prepares each dish to bring out the rich, natural flavours, creating a meal that truly celebrates the essence of Provence.
Our ultimate journey takes us through some of France’s most beautiful villages as we head east toward the breathtaking high plateau of the Luberon. We’ll begin in the charming village of Lourmarin, where you can explore its magnificent castle and indulge in traditional French cuisine. From there, enjoy a scenic drive through majestic mountains and the world-renowned lavender fields that define Provence’s beauty. Next, we’ll arrive in Gordes, a hilltop gem offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside—a perfect finale to this unforgettable adventure.
We’ll conclude the tour in style this evening with a celebration at the Michelin-starred Auberge de St. Remy, where you’ll indulge in a exquisite seven-course meal, perfectly paired with fine wines.
After breakfast and check-out, guests will have time to relax at their leisure before being transferred to Marseille Airport for their outbound flights.
