Food Systems & Gut Health: Dr Amati & Patrick Holden CBE | Goodwood Health Summit 2025

19th February 2026
Explore the link between soil and the microbiome with Dr Federica Amati and Patrick Holden CBE. Learn how farming methods shape human health and development.

In the second session, Dr Federica Amati warned that children today are growing up with less microbiome diversity, affecting immunity and development. She described the gut as a “mini-pharmacy” and stressed the need to nourish it early with whole foods. Patrick Holden CBE reminded us that soil is “the stomach of the plant” and that farming methods shape the nutrition on our plates. Together, they showed how our health depends not just on what we eat, but how it’s grown.
