King Edward VII turned his back on the traditional morning suit and donned a linen suit and Panama hat. Thus the Glorious Goodwood trend was born.

Four months into married life, we caught up with the happy couple to find out their highlights from the big day.
“We knew we wanted to get married at Goodwood House long before we got engaged. There is something just so magical about this place: the overwhelming feeling of history, character and serenity. It is hard to put into words and to find ways to do it justice, but it’s a feeling you get when you visit. We had viewed a number of other wedding venues but there was no other place we wanted to tie our very special bond in, than Goodwood.
We had visited Goodwood House every Spring for the past three years before our wedding and now it is a place we will cherish forever.”
Gary and Sabina chose a spectacular theme for their wedding day, one that fitted perfectly into the setting of Goodwood House.
“We knew that we wanted our wedding to be celebrated under the rich golds and reds, the intimacy of Christmas candlelight and the crackling wood burning in the fireplaces. By getting married in the winter we didn’t want to miss out on any of the interior magnificence this house exudes, so December was just perfect.”

Sabina
“Our wedding reception took place in the Ballroom – a glorious gem at the heart of the House. It was important to us to stick with the traditional banquet style arrangement, with a single long table, deep red velvet tablecloths, gold candelabras, and deep red roses running all the way through the table. Our guests were blown away! Whilst the room is very grand, the atmosphere was incredibly intimate – created using a number of candles on the table and by the beautiful gold mirror at the side of the room.
Even our menu had a festive twist. Made from all the seasonal produce on the Estate, the menu was absolutely divine. It might as well have been Michelin starred!”
And with so many remarkable photos to look back on, Sabina and Gary certainly have many precious memories to remember from their wedding day at Goodwood House.
“Finally, we are incredibly grateful to the Goodwood staff who made this day so stress free and flawless for us. Rhiannon [Wedding Planner], David [Head Butler] and Mike [Head Chef] all deserve a special thank you. There really is no place like Goodwood.”
